Our weekend adventures consisted of amazing seats to watch the Blue Crew win against the Colorado Rockies. Before anyone comments, this was Saturday night. We know the Dodgers got smoked on Sunday. Nonetheless, sporting events are always a good time!
You will find this iconic stadium in the Elysian Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Opened in 1962, this stadium is home to the LA Dodgers. Tommy Lasorda nicknamed the park, “Blue Heaven on Earth.” For those of you that don’t know, the Dodgers are a team within the Major League Baseball association. Previously the Brooklyn Dodgers, the team first called Los Angeles home in 1958, when the franchise was relocated due to the opportunity of financial gain within the MLB. The stadium is rich with history and memorabilia that you can see or snap pics of all throughout the stadium. When coming here for a game, the stadium will be open an hour and a half prior to the start, so you have time to wander and take it all in. We encourage everyone to do this, especially if you have not been before.
Although, I, Tyler, much prefer to root for the Milwaukee Brewers, it is still incredibly fun to experience the hardcore team pride that the fans display. In addition to the fan spirit, you cannot go to Dodger Stadium without experiencing the treats! Everyone needs to experience the Dodger Dogs, Ice Cream, and Garlic Fries!! You can also get a mixed drink in a take home shaker! Eat a ton of calories, drink a cold beverage, and prepare to finish it off with some TUMS. Totally worth it!
Dodger Stadium is home to a giant jumbotron and various traditions such as Friday night fireworks, the kiss cam, the dance cam, and much more. Guests can share in team support by participating in the seventh inning stretch, standing up to do the wave, or munching on peanuts and letting the shells fall wherever they may. These are just a few of the activities that contribute to why baseball’s reputation is America’s Favorite Pastime.
In addition to all the classic activities, Dodger Stadium has been busy renovating and making upgrades to make your experience even more memorable. The most notable upgrade was the creation of Centerfield Plaza. This area is filled with endless photo ops, batting cages, pitching cages, kid’s play areas, and live music. In addition, there is a Shake Shack restaurant, a Michelob Ultra Bar, and a Golden Road Brewing Beer Garden where you can sit and watch the game. The coolest part of this area is the makeshift dugout where you can root on and sit with your favorite players…they will appear in a video and photograph with you that is e-mailed to your phone. The players might not actually be next to you, but the holographs sure look real. What a cool, FREE, souvenir that both adults and kids will mutually enjoy!
We believe that regardless of being a sports fan, everyone should experience a ball game! In Los Angeles, this is one of the most popular events to attend.
Until next time…
