Located in Malibu along the Pacific Coast Hwy, this place might not be a tropical paradise, but it is certainly a coastal one!! Arrive early because it gets very busy, but prepare to slow down, take a deep breath, and sink your toes into the sand. Once parked, you will find yourself away from a clock and living on Island Time. Enter the café, sit outside, see the sunrise over the pier, and watch the waves crash into the rocks along the shoreline. This area is picturesque to say the least!
Owned by Bob Morris, this beach café used to be home to the Chumash Indian tribe. It still remains the final resting place for many tribe members. More recently, it was the location of quality family time for the Morris family. Today, it is one of the most popular beach destinations where you can swim, rent a day bed, go shelling around each of the cove’s corners, and bask in the sunshine with a drink in your hand! As you gaze into the Pacific blue waters, you may be surprised to see some dolphins or whales, as they often put on a show in the area.
Some of the items that deserve mentioning off the menu include:
~ Coffee – Not only does their coffee taste good, but it is served with whipped cream and chocolate biscotti. It’s breakfast and dessert all in one!
~ Real Coconut Boba Rum Drink – This is incredible! Close your eyes, take a sip, and be transported to tropical bliss!
~ Pancakes – The plain old buttermilk pancakes are to die for, but the Macadamia Coconut Pancakes will trick your mouth into thinking you are in Hawaii. Either way, it’s a win!
~ Crispy Calamari – If you like calamari, get this…it’s a massive portion served in an oversized martini glass! Photo worthy and drool worthy!
~ Paella Paradise – What more is there to say besides YUM! It’s a heaping pile of seafood and saffron rice!
All in all, basically anything off the menu is good. The only downside of this place is the parking. The lot is small and expensive. If you eat at the café, parking is $8 on the weekdays and $10 on the weekends for four hours. After the four hours it goes from $8/$10 and $35/$50. If you do not grab a bite, it is $35 during the week and $50 during the weekend. Nonetheless, it is totally worth it.
This place will absolutely become a recurring experience for us!
Enjoying the cray-sea views,
