Another beautiful beach along the California coast. This state beach is bound to catch your eye; filled with cliffs, coves, and sand dunes. Point Dume has 34 acres of sand and a roughly one mile stretch of shoreline.
This area is a favorite among many locals, as it offers restrooms, showers, a waterfront restaurant, a hiking trail, and beachside parking. It is a “luxury” beach compared to others.
On a clear day, you can see Catalina and if you come during December thru March, you might just get lucky enough to see whales! In these months, California gray whales migrate from the Arctic to the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez in Baja, California. These beautiful creatures are a sight to see! Even if you don’t see whales, you are likely to see Dolphins. Basically, you can’t lose!
When you visit, the 3/4 mile hike is a MUST! Start in the sand, at the base of the cliff, and follow the path to the top. There is a 100-foot elevation gain and photo opps around every corner.
After you work up a sweat you can visit The Sunset for a seafood snack or adult beverage! For those of you that don’t know, this is the beachfront restaurant.
If you are like us, you will start your day with some food and a jolt of caffeine! For that you must head to the Point Dume Village and beeline straight to Le Café De La Plage. Filled with French inspired pastries, sandwiches, coffees, and an incredible ice cream assortment, this place is a whole vibe! With its motto being “Only Good Vibes,” it is impossible to not enjoy yourself. Both the atmosphere and the staff live up to that expectation to create a memorable experience. If you like the vibes or live local, pick up some company swag or take home a pint of their hand-crafted ice cream! You will feel your stress melt off as you soak up the sunshine on their patio.
Although a simple set of activities, this makes for the perfect day trip, a little workout, a little sunshine, and some good eats.
Come check it out and you just might see us there!
Give us coffee to change the things we can and the beach to accept the things we can’t,
