With so many events in the city and tons of house parties all over, deciding what to do can be a big decision. For us, it wasn’t…lay low! We weren’t feeling the crowds and had no desire to wait in lines trying to get a costume. Thank you costume shortage! It seems like everything has a shortage lately…Thanks a lot COVID! Alright, alright, enough of our attitude!
We did, however, enjoy the spooky vibes with some mellow adventures.
On Saturday, we went to the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica to enjoy the Día de los Muertos celebration. For those of you that don’t know, Día de los Muertos, is also known as the Day of the Dead. It is a Mexican holiday that celebrates departed relatives and life. It is a way to remember your ancestors and share a meal. While this festival is Mexican culture, anyone is welcome to partake. You will see endless photos of friends and family, Mexican Marigolds, and other flowers throughout, and Calaveras AKA Sugar Skulls everywhere. It is a beautiful sight to see. The event in Santa Monica had authentic food vendors, various handmade goods for sale, and a few art displays. Some of the vendors that stood out to us were:
~ ChamyJam – Chamoy candies…need we say more? We recommend the mango gummies! IG: @chamyjam
~ Yuzu Leaf Co – Eco-friendly and handmade candles, car diffusers, and wax melts. These candles smell so good! We picked up the Lychee Tea and Kitchen Window scents. IG @yuzuleafco
~ Tea Lucky – The Strawberry Kiwi tea is out of this world! These loose-leaf teas will have you hooked just by smelling them! If you like tea, check this company out! IG @tealuckylife
~ Sculptingus – This stand was full of body positive vibes! Selling candles and 3D printed keychains, vases, and more, this vendor is sure to catch your eye. All the artwork is body shapes…male, female, pregnant…you name it. We(or more obviously I, Tyler) picked up one of the keychains! IG @sculptingus
~Roots Chakra – This stand was selling natural, raw hemp products. We got the Lime CBD chapstick and couldn’t be happier…it smells and feels great. Next in our shopping cart will be their Amethyst CBD body scrub. It has real Amethyst in it…how cool is that?! IG @_rootschakra_
If that wasn’t enough spirit, on Sunday, we went to Sierra Madre to see the decorated neighborhood houses. In the middle of this cute town lies Alegria Street. Alegria homeowners decorate their properties outrageously for this holiday. Once it gets dark, take a walk down the street and see the décor for yourself. This decades-long tradition will not disappoint. The streets will be blocked off, candy will be high demand, and awesome costume clad kids will be running throughout. It is quite the to do! We did notice that less was decorated than in prior years, but it was still a blast.

Our shadows…BOO!
Until next Halloween season…
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
